Emily Blumenthal of HandbagDesigner101.com is a trend/source expert who understands the insatiable appetite of emerging and undiscovered designers. She found a gap in the oversaturated market for emerging handbag design and made a name for herself as the person who would identify the next “it” bag designer. She oversees the Independent Handbag Designer Awards and is the author of Handbag Designer.101: Everything You Need to Know About Designing, Making, and Marketing Handbags.
Emily launched her own handbag line, Yasmena and the Yazzy Bag, while getting her MBA at Fordham University’s Graduate School of Business Administration. Her work led to several licensing deals, including one with Adidas, and a run on QVC. Emily has taught “How to Launch Your Handbag Line” at the Learning Annex, Fashion PR at the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising and Fashion Marketing at Parsons The New School for Design. She served on the casting panel and as official blogger for a Project Runway spinoff called Project Accessory. Her dedication has prompted collaborations between emerging talent and brands like Swarovski, Timberland, kate spade new york, Carlos Falchi, Kenneth Cole and Saks Fifth Avenue.
