Stephen Shallo is the deputy director of operations/client management for the New York City mayor’s office’s New Business Acceleration Team. He has been with the unit since its inception in April 2010. He is responsible for business outreach, which includes connecting and engaging with business owners; monitoring the staff of client managers tasked with assisting each establishment enrolled in NBAT; responding to the questions, comments and concerns of business owners; and collecting important feedback regarding the program and city policy. Stephen serves as the liaison to the Department of Small Business Services, where he oversees the coordination between the city’s Business Solutions Centers and NBAT. He also develops and maintains partnerships with more than 60 community-based organizations throughout the five boroughs.
He has a bachelor’s degree in history and political science with a concentration in public law from the University of Delaware and a master’s degree in public administration with a concentration in local governance from Pace University. Prior to joining the mayor’s office, Stephen worked for the New York County District Attorney’s Office.
