Walter Recher

Walter Recher has over 25 years of experience as an executive, entrepreneur, educator and management consultant, leading the successful launch of new businesses in highly competitive markets. Over the course of his distinguished career, Recher has led high growth companies and formed strategic partnerships as a senior executive, founder, business partner and management consultant. Walter has developed and implemented innovative education programs, brands and marketing strategies to rapidly expand into new markets, including four of the fastest growing companies in U.S. business history.

Walter is the principal consultant at SmallBall Marketing, a management, marketing and communications consulting firm specializing in the development of new market strategies and programs for the education market, high growth companies and entrepreneurs. Clients have included DDB Media, Infobrella, Flexor Sports, IBM Global Services, Scholastic Inc., Camarda Development Corporation, Performax, CoachLink LLC and Successful Education Solutions.

Mr. Recher founded and led a number of successful startup companies, including On-Ramp Associates, Home Buyers Network, InTouch Media and Diamond Sports Careers. As cofounder and managing partner of Diamond Sports, he worked closely with industry executives to offer career events offered at major sports venues, including the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Yankee Stadium, Met Life Stadium, Red Bull Arena, Madison Square Garden, Chelsea Piers, Bloomberg, LP Headquarters, Bobby Valentine’s Sports Academy and on college campuses, including Fordham University, NYU, UCONN and Manhattanville College. Diamond Sports developed SportsCareers101.com, an online sports career development resource, and the Perfect Pitch® Competition, professional development skills training program designed for students and graduates to improve their presentation skills.

As co-founder and President of InTouch Media, Recher worked with the National Center for Missing Children to promote commerce and community at airports, hotels, realtor offices, and major events including the PGA Buick Classic, Citibank Tournament of Champions Tennis, and the Japan Airlines LPGA.

Recher has been a leader in designing and developing innovation in education, as an adjunct professor instructing graduate and undergraduate students in traditional, hybrid and online formats, including Sports Entrepreneurship, Technology and Sports in the Global Market and Sports Leadership at Manhattanville College, Emerging Technologies at Fordham University, Contemporary Communications and Media for the SUNY Learning Network, and Introduction to Marketing at Marist College. He has been a frequent speaker on education, career development and entrepreneurship, appearing as guest speaker and panelist at Fordham University, UCONN, Manhattanville College, Manhattan College, Marist College, NYU and the Business of Sports School in NYC.

Mr. Recher has been active working with the business community and not for profits, including the Westchester County Association Blueprint Accelerator Network, a resource for startup businesses to promote entrepreneurship and job growth in Westchester County. He is also an advisor and mentor to students in the Fordham University Gabelli School of Business Entrepreneurship.

Mr. Recher has been featured on NBC News and WCBS NewsRadio 88, the Wall Street Journal, Entrepreneurship Magazine, the Journal News and Cablevision.  He was also featured in a New York Times article on the development of a new Fordham University/MCI education partnership program.

Recher earned his MBA in Information and Communications at Fordham University, and a BA in Psychology from State University of New York, College at Oswego.  He resides in Carmel, New York with his wife Ellen, son Jack, and stepdaughter Claire.
